Kellie Nelson – 2017 ICCC Katie Lunn “Keep the Smile Alive” Scholarship Winner

On March 31, 2017 Iowa Central Community College held their annual Curtain Call dance program displaying the talents of the ICCC Dance team. Towards the end of the show the Director of Dance, Lesa Dencklau and special guest and close friend of Katie, Cassidy Vermeer announced the 2017 Katie Lunn “Keep the Smile Alive” scholarship winner. This years winner is Kellie Nelson. Kellie, a 2 year dancer at Iowa Central is a native of Davenport, IA and has been dancing for many years including 9 years of studio training and 4 years on the Davenport West High School dance team prior to attending ICCC. She has been awarded many dance honors while in high school including a performance in London England at a New Years Day parade. Kellie was picked by college staff based on a essay she wrote describing what dance means to her. During her solo performance and other performances during the evening, her continuous smile made it obvious the right dancer was chosen.

Kellie plans to continue her education at the University of Iowa – Carver College of Medicine studying Cardiac Interventional Radiology. We congratulate Kellie on winning this years scholarship and wish her the best of luck as she continues her education and her association with dance.
