2016 Fort Dodge Katie Lunn Keep the Smile Alive Scholarship winner announced
On Tuesday May 24th the annual awards dinner was held for the finalist of the FDSH Katie Lunn “Keep the Smile Alive” Scholarship. This years finalist were: Alexandria Hays, nominated by Jordyn Kloss; Sam Cook, nominated by Sam Kolacia; Brandi Smith, nominated by Kevin Chen; Rebekah Henkelman, nominated by Nick Sanford and this years winner was Hankel Haldin who was nominated by Peter Lyon.
As in past years the peer nominated scholarship allowed students to write an essay on how their nominee displayed similar character and spirit as Katie Lunn. All essays were reviewed by a panel of Judges made up of Fort Dodge Senior High teachers, all who knew Katie, and a winner was voted on and selected. Both Henkel and Peter received scholarships to the college of their choice. Hankel Haldin will be attending Simpson college and Peter Lyon will be attending the University of Iowa.
Congratulations to all finalists for being selected and thanks for your participation in the scholarship process. A special thank you to the teachers that make up the selection committee. And congratulations to Hankel and Peter for being this years scholarship winners. The awards dinner was again organized by Katie’s sister and brother, Jessica Vonsak and Mitch Lunn.
